Hi! My name is Andrew She, but all my friends call me Ashe(A-SHAY). I was born and raised in Georgia, grew up in Johns Creek, and have been living in Atlanta since 2020. I am a NASM Certified Personal Trainer with a passion for helping people feel more confident and capable at the gym.
I've always had a love for all sports. I remember hearing the sound of the first swish I ever made on the basketball court, and became obsessed. Along my basketball journey, the love for the game began to fade away. My new obsession was approval from coaches, friends, family, and myself. I stopped playing basketball competitively before my Senior season started, and felt shame that I had given up. Fitness made me think of past failures, and I had no plan to return.
Growing up Korean American also shaped the way I viewed myself and my body. At times, I felt pressure to fit certain expectations, and that influenced how I thought about my appearance, confidence, and what I believed needed to change about myself.
I started lifting weights for the first time (on my own terms) 7 years ago. At first, I pushed myself to exhaustion based on what I thought I needed to do to change my physical appearance. I consumed endless fitness content—and eventually realized that maybe everything on the internet isn't true:). I ditched Tiktok's and hit the books! I fell in love not only with getting stronger, but with learning how the body moves, how to train safely and effectively, and how empowering it can be to realize what your body is capable of.
For a very long time, I disliked everything about my body. Body positivity to me means freedom. Freedom from being weighed down by ideas, thoughts, and beliefs about my body that have never been true.
